About Me
I'm Ariette, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), and Christian counsellor based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. As a creative, and adult child of East-Asian immigrants, I am passionate about helping people heal through the power of human relational connection and emotional-focussed therapy.
As an emotionally-focussed therapist whose lived experiences have led me to pursue this path, I work heartily with individuals in navigating their personal barriers, feel empowered in the present to heal from the past and grow as people.
Your emotions are powerful, but so are you. You are capable of healing.
I work with adolescents (13+), Christian couples, and adult individuals. I am particularly passionate about women's health, and often integrate mind-body work into sessions such as nervous system regulation, hormonal and mood support, etc.
In my line of work, it is my joy to connect with my clients to empower and equip them with the self-advocacy and tools to make healthier, holistic choices in their relationships, life and careers. I look forward to potentially working with you!
My Why
Like you, I am a fellow sojourner in this life experience of humanity. I have lived experience as a second generation Chinese-Canadian, and with that comes the cultural empathy and understanding of certain experiences that are unique yet universal to those from East-Asian backgrounds. I bring my insight to relate to others, and growing up as a visible minority has allowed me to appreciate the cultural diversity and experiences others have.
I became a therapist because I believe that healing can create a ripple effect in not only your life, but in the lives of others. I believe in the important work of inner child healing, so that generational trauma and dysfunctional family patterns discontinue with you. I want to see your life, and the lives of your loved ones and future generations benefit from the ripple effects of your healing. This is the heart behind all that I do -- I see therapy as a vehicle that drives emotional transformation towards the better. My own lived experiences, my faith, and my values have led me to a profound hope for humanity -- that though we live in a world of brokenness, that healing is possible.
Healing starts with you, and me, and the felt work together.
My Education
I received my formal education from Tyndale University and Seminary, where I graduated with a Master of Divinity Degree in Clinical Counselling and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child & Youth Care from Toronto Metropolitan University. I also have ICEEFT training in trauma & PESI training in EFT for couples therapy.
